What does //learning field 6020 mean?
Metaphorically, this project represents an architectural thought experiment aimed at contributing to an eco-social transformation towards a new societal city center. It is about social innovation and fostering greater interactivity. The concept blends the old and the new. While pebbles remain, the entire organism is evolving — like a landscape that disregards everything and cuts through like a knife through butter. This brings a fresh vitality to the area. It is a positive utopia where individuals can gain competence, from knowledge to implementation. It offers an opportunity to utilize empty spaces in the heart of society, encouraging and promoting the exchange of knowledge.
The inspiration for my work dates back to when I was eleven years old and entered secondary school. In the school system, I experienced what it means to learn in a hierarchical environment where constant comparison is the norm. It was a place where learning was supposed to happen, but making mistakes was viewed negatively.
When we find ourselves, as we are here at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Innsbruck, in a decentralized learning space on the outskirts of the city, reflecting on society, we are in an isolated, external learning environment.
In exploring this theme, it became clear that a permanent dialogue between society and learning opens up lifelong, low-barrier access to education. This, in turn, revitalizes skills such as discovery, exploration, and lifelong learning.
With the expectation that by 2025, online retail will account for 15% of total retail sales, the spaces at the intersection of society and the urban center have become the central focus.
